MN7181- EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

Employee Relations

The most important part of any business is its people. No business can run effectively without them. But people don't work in a vacuum; they need to communicate and work with others to get their jobs done. Employers need to manage relationships in the workplace to keep the business functioning smoothly, avoid problems, and make sure employees are performing at their best. Employee relationships are therefore very important in the business world.

Definition of Employee Relations
Employee relationship concept refers to the efforts of a company to build and maintain a positive relationship with its employees. An organization with a good employee relations program provides fair and consistent treatment to all employees so they will be committed to their jobs and loyal to the company. Such programs also aim to prevent and resolve problems arising from situations at work. As far as workplace relations are concerned, there are two main roles in an HR department. First, HR helps prevent and resolve problems or disputes between employees and management. Second, they assist in creating and enforcing policies that are fair and consistent for everyone in the workplace. (Bamboo HR LLC., 2019)

Importance of Employee Relations
Every person at the workplace shares with his fellow workers a certain relationship. They need people to talk to each other, discuss ideas, and share their happiness and sorrows. An individual is unable to function alone, he needs people around him. An isolated environment demotivates an individual and spreads negativity around. It is essential that people are comfortable with each other and work together as a single unit towards a common goal. It is important that employees share a healthy relation with each other at the work place. (management study guide privacy policy , 2019)

Benefits of Great Employee Relations
Relationships between employees may build or destroy an organization. In the long run, good relationships between employees can make a business successful. To minimize labor conflicts, a good understanding between employees and employers is necessary. A positive relationship between employers and employees leads to higher motivation and employee engagement. When employees are happy, they are more productive. They will put more effort into their work, and this translates into satisfied customers and more revenue.
Establishing and strengthening the employee and employer relationship can be achieved by measuring employee satisfaction, identifying and resolving workplace issues, and providing input and support to the performance management system of the company. Workers who are not rewarded for their contributions are far more likely to become disillusioned. Nevertheless, companies that invest in good relationships with workers will reap numerous benefits.

Growth and Development
A harmonious relationship between employees and employers contributes to economic growth and development, resulting in increased efficiency afterwards. Greater efficiency, in turn, leads to higher productivity and growth. It is important to keep the employees motivated if organizations want to get the best from them. Workers lacking in motivation will reduce productivity in a workplace.
We can work more efficiently if workers have a positive relationship with their employers. They will make every effort to ensure the project's success. Organizations with harmonious relationships will be able to ensure output consistency.  Employees will be motivated to work hard, allowing the company to expand. (Influencive LLC, 2017)

Reduction in Turnover
Employee relations are the backbone of any business. Poor employee relations will affect productivity and result in high employee turnover. Organizations with good relationships with workers offer higher wages and other desirable benefits, rendering remaining in the employee's best interest. Even if the employee is not 100% satisfied with their job, they are less likely to suddenly leave a company for another when they are pleased with their working environment. A friendly work environment increases the productivity and enthusiasm of workers. (Influencive LLC, 2017)

Increase in Revenue
Great employee relationships will have a positive impact on a company's growth and profits. Not only within the company, but also by the consumer or end user, the benefits of a happier, healthier work environment are felt. Having more engaged and motivated employees tends to result in greater customer satisfaction and better products and services, which also tends to point to an increase in sales. (Influencive LLC, 2017)

Enhanced Motivation
Companies that have engaged workers experience higher productivity. Organizations need to ensure that their workers feel empowered and appreciated to increase morale and motivation. (Influencive LLC, 2017)
