What is Learning and Development

Training and development, a branch of HR, aims at improving group and individual performance by enhancing and strengthening knowledge and skills. Learning and development, often called training and development, forms part of an organization’s talent management strategy and is designed to align group and individual goals and performance with the organization’s overall vision and goals (Sift.com, 2019). Helping employees to be effective in their jobs is one of the most fundamental tasks that any organization of work has to undertake in people management.

Learning has several principles and each is vastly important in various ways. As philosophers say, the start of action is a principle. To successfully design educational programs that result in student participation and learning facilitation, it is crucial to have an extensive understanding of learning principles. Managers and supervisors analyze the performance of employees, and this is one way in which they can increase productivity. The term “learning styles” speaks to the understanding that every person learns differently. Technically, an individual’s learning style refers to the preferential way in which the person absorbs processes, comprehends and retains information.


VARK Style
One of the most accepted understandings of learning styles is that student learning styles fall into three categories: Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing and Kinesthetic.
