Stages of Team Development
This process of learning to work together
effectively is known as team development. Research has shown that teams go
through definitive stages during development. Bruce Tuckman, an educational psychologist,
identified a five-stage development process that most teams follow to become
high performing. He called the stages: forming, storming, norming, performing,
and adjourning.

Global Human Resource Management
Global human resource management, also referred to
as international HRM, is an umbrella term that covers all facets of the HR,
payroll, and talent management systems of a company that work internationally. As technological innovations make it easier for organizations
to conduct business across the world, global expansion has become an increasing
reality—if not a necessity. Likewise, it’s essential for these multinational
organizations to have the right HRM software in place that’s capable of serving
employees working around the globe. (Ultimate Software, 2019) This is where
approaches to handle global human capital come in. Using robust HRM tools will
help ensure that all workers remain active, cooperative and committed
organizational contributors.
Objectives of global HRM as follows
·
Create a local appeal without
compromising upon the global identity.
·
Generating awareness of cross cultural
sensitivities among managers globally and hiring of staff across geographic
boundaries.
·
Training upon cultures and sensitivities
of the host country.
Maslow Theory
Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a psychological
motivational concept containing a five-tier model of human needs, frequently
represented within a pyramid as hierarchical levels. Needs in the hierarchy
lower down must be met before individuals can take care of higher needs. From
the bottom of the hierarchy upwards, the needs are: physiological, safety, love
and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization. It can be stated as follows,
SMART Goals
Its criteria are commonly attributed by the concept
of Objectives to Peter Drucker's management. The first known use of the term
occurs in the November 1981 issue of Management Review by George T. Doran.
Since then, Professor Robert S. Rubin wrote about SMART in an article for The
Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. (Mind Tools Ltd, 2019) He stated that SMART
has come to mean different things to different people, as shown below,
•
Specific (simple, sensible,
significant).
•
Measurable (meaningful, motivating).
•
Achievable (agreed, attainable).
•
Relevant (reasonable, realistic and
resourced, results-based).
•
Time bound (time-based, time limited,
time/cost limited, timely, time-sensitive).
What Is an Autonomous Work Group?
Similar to an individual with autonomy at work, an
autonomous work group is a team of employees granted autonomy or independence
over the work they do within an organization. This autonomy includes
independent decision-making related to a specific work function, project or job
and independent freedom to assign individual members specific tasks within the
group. (Leaf Group Ltd. , 2019)
Toyota production system
The Toyota Production System (TPS) is an integrated
socio-technical system developed by Toyota (automotive manufacturer) to
efficiently organize manufacturing and logistics, including the interaction
with suppliers and customers, to minimize cost and waste. Mr. Nampachi Hayashi claims that TPS should
have been called “Toyota Process Development System. (BPI, 2019)
