Organizational Culture

Organizational Culture

Organizational culture is a set of common perceptions, values and beliefs that control the actions of individuals in organizations. Those shared values have a strong influence on the organization's people and control how they dress, behave, and do their work. That organization is creating and sustaining a unique culture that offers standards and expectations for the actions of the organization's members. Let's discuss the elements that make up the culture of an organization. (gothamCulture LLC, 2019)

Types of Organizational Cultures

A particular concept is corporate culture. There are some general classifications of corporate culture, however.
  • Power culture

A power culture-ruled organization has a strong leader who controls actions and values. The chief also has an impact on thoughts and beliefs. Among small businesses, early-stage businesses and start-ups, this form of culture is very popular.

  • Role culture

Formal structures define values and beliefs in a place group. There are agencies of government, for example, in a position society.

  • Task culture

Employees prioritize job completion and achievements in an organization with a work culture. In project teams, where time and task resolution are critical, we often see this type of culture. In other words, we see this in project teams where the top priority is to get things done and meet deadlines.

  • Personal culture

Individual interests, values and philosophies are essential factors in this type of culture. For example, a professional services company that integrates many of its own employees ' beliefs and ideas has a personal culture (Market Business News, 2019)

The Importance of Organizational Culture

It is the quality that binds the organization together and prevents it from falling apart; a quality that gives the organization the strength to cope with difficult challenges; a quality that distinguishes it from the rest. Organizations, like individuals, also have a unique personality that we call ' culture. ‘It is an invisible yet powerful force that drives each of its members ' thoughts and actions. It is a system of values, beliefs and goals that are shared.
Organizational culture has an enormous impact on the ability of the company to succeed and make it big in today's competitive world. It's hard for a company without a tangible culture to tap into its employees ' full potential and keep them happy. And, that puts at risk the well-being of both the organization and its people.  (Management Study Guide Privacy Policy, 2020)
